The installation of lighting in your garden, either solar or low power is one of the best ways to highlight the beauty of the exterior of your house at night. For those who have no garden or still need to devote a little to gardening, think of lighting as a way to make the arrival of your guests safer.

There are two types of garden lighting: (i) solar energy, and (ii) low voltage. The solar lighting is very easy to install and get energy from the sun (with some help from a battery) and so is virtually free, just have the cost of replacing batteries. The biggest disadvantage of this type of lighting is what needs to be installed at a site where it take enough sun during the day. Another disadvantage is that the lighting systems by solar energy can radiate a light a little blue.

The greatest benefit of using low-voltage outdoor lighting is that it can be used anywhere. You can put this type of lighting where you want and thus create a nicer look to your home. The disadvantage is that it needs energy and it costs money to keep on.

How to buy

When you buy your lighting solar energy, you really get what you pay. The cheaper models made consist of plastic, the more expensive models usually bring a metal body for durability and the lens is glass. We advise not to buy plastic models entirely. Plastic lenses are fragile and break very easily.

Lighting packages come with 6, 8 or 12 pieces. You need not put too many lights. If you do, your garden will look like an airport runway. We recommend that you put a light for every 1.5 meters.

Getting Started

Open the box and inspect all lights. If any piece comes damaged, put everything in the box and return it to where you bought it. If all parts are good then just follow the instructions to assemble the lamps. Always be careful not to overtighten the plastic pieces. The models of outdoor lighting solar energy may vary slightly but generally all have a top of plastic or metal which is fixed diffuser. Then just enter everything in the transparent body and fix the pole.

How to install

The best time to install your lighting is in the morning for the lights to capture solar energy throughout the day. Usually it takes about 10 hours for cells to charge the equipment.

Study the placement of the lights and attach them to the ground. Just let the rod buried. When nightfall, inspect all lights and if necessary, replace any that do not work.

How to buy

Before purchasing your lighting, you need a plan for all the lights you will need. The best time to make this plan is at night. Get some flashlights and put them on the sites you want to illuminate a way that has a preview of the final result.

Like most products, even here you get what you pay. The cheaper models are more complicated to assemble and use poor quality materials. We always recommend that you purchase higher quality lighting to facilitate its assembly and durability.

As with solar lighting, do not feel obliged to use all the lights that come in the box. We do not want an aircraft to confuse your home with an airstrip.

Getting Started

This installation will require you to do some digging. This excavation can be dangerous if you do not know where are located the water pipes, gas, electricity, etc... If possible, check on the plan of your house or your city where are located these pipelines before beginning excavation.

As the low voltage transformer used in this light will stay on the outside, exposed to rain, frost and snow, it is important that the circuit is grounded to prevent electric shock.

Mounting the Lights

Follow the manufacturer's instruction manual to assemble the lights. Probably the instructions will be very similar to the assembly of a solar system.

Put the lights and wiring

Using the plan we drew up before buying the lighting, place the lamps on the site you want and connect the wiring to the circuit on the ground. After testing that everything works then you can bury all the wiring.

Hide the circuit wiring

The wiring should be buried to a depth of 20cm. Start at the farthest corner of the low voltage transformer. Dig all the required ditches before you start laying the cable. Be very careful with the behaviors of services that may exist in your garden. After inserting the cable into the ditch, just cover it up.
